Truckee Football is 5-0 half way through the season

Truckee (Calif.) defeated Spring Creek (Nev.) 34-3 on Friday to tie the Nevada state record with its 41st consecutive football victory. The Wolverines, who are 5-0 this year, are tied with Meadows (Nev.) and will be seeking their fourth consecutive state title.

Truckee, which is located only 12 miles from the Nevada border, plays just one California team. See the story of Truckee’s long trail from the CIF to the NIAA here.

The 41-win streak entered the week as the fifth longest in the nation.



Truckee HS Football is ranked 4th in the nation for undefeated teams with 38 consecutive wins and 3 State Titles.

The Wolverines started their 2012 season on 9/1/12 against Lowry, NV and won the game 27 to 7.   Truckee traveled to Dayton, NV on 9/7/12 to play the Dust Devils who also won their first game against Spring Creek with a score of 22 to 0.  Truckee wins again with a strong defense, with Cody Poulsen who plays defensive tackle scores a touchdown!  Final score was Truckee 51 Dayton 7.

Single Family:
• 571 total active/active-contingent listings (down 9% from a total of 630 a month ago)
• 124 REO/SS = 22% (down 13% from a total of 142 a month ago)
• 27 REO (down 25% from a total of 36 a month ago)
• 97 SS, of which 59% have offers working (down 8% from a total of 106 a month)

• 231 total active/active-contingent listings (down just 1% from a total of 233 a month ago)
• 32 REO/SS = 14% (down just 9% from a total of 35 a month ago)
• 6 REO (down 33% from a total of 9 a month ago)
• 26 SS, of which 62% have offers working (no change from last month)

Although there’s not a significant change in the condo/townhome statistics for distressed properties (except for 1/3 less REOs), on the ‘single family’ front, this is 2 months of significant drops in number of REO/Short Sale properties on the market. At the beginning of December, there were a total of 171 single family REO/SS listings (active and active-contingent); today there are 124, a 27% drop. Twould be nice if this were a trend!

Attached are the monthly statistics, comparing January-November, 2010 vs. 2011, including stats for short sales & REOs.

As I analyze these, I’m always looking for a trend, and the one thing that is apparent is that in most cases, the number of units sold is up this year over last. And in several areas/comparisons, short sales are up with REOs being down, which is a good sign. I know many of you are still challenged getting approvals, but it appears that the government’s directives to lenders to “get with the program and shorten the response time on short sale approval requests” may have had an impact.

Median prices, although still less this year than for the same period last year, are going up, with less of a drop than the comparisons for previous months. So hopefully that is a positive sign as well.

Lake Tahoe - Truckee - Tahoe Donner Real Estate Sales from 1/1 -7/1 compaired with 2010 to 2111

Tahoe / Truckee Real Estate stats for January-July 2011 as compared to the same period for 2010. For Tahoe Donner, the median prices were either up or stayed the same, for both single family and condos/townhomes. The median price for Serene Lakes was up as well, although number of units sold was down. Almost all other median prices listed were the same or slightly down.

Lake Tahoe and Truckee Home Sale (REAL ESTATE) in the Truckee Tahoe MLS for single family homes for the entire MLS, January-April 2011 actually had slightly more sales than the same period 1 year ago (+1%). Condos/townhomes were substantially lower (-22%). Tahoe Donner had less sales this year versus the same period in 2010 for both single family and condos/townhomes, whereas single family in Truckee as a whole was exactly the same for this period.

We have received almost 750” of snow this year, which is about 62 feet of snow (enough to cover a 5 story building). We need to get a total of 840 inches to make this the snowiest year ever breaking the 1938 record.  If you’re wondering what were the five snowiest winters at Norden (in order) are – 1938, 1952, 1880, 1890 and 1895. 

Records have been kept since 1878 marking it the longest data set in Sierra Nevada. The Tamarack station, at 8,000 feet elevation in Alpine County, was active for a relatively short period of time.  Not only was the seasonal snowfall record was set there, but California’s greatest snow depth of 37.6 feet was measured there in 1911.  The United States greatest monthly snowfall record of 32.5 feet occurred there during January 1911. 

To put the 2011 season in perspective, as of March 28th we are in the top 10 years of the most snow.  See below and attached the Donner Summit Snowfall from 1879 – 2010 by the CSSL.
